You don’t want to devote too many slots to dedicated removal like Swords to Plowshares in a blink deck. Rather than Counterspell, I prefer to play Mystic Snake, and rather than Swords, I play Fiend Hunter. Why? Because if you have an instant-speed blink effect at the ready, you can play Fiend Hunter, target a creature, and with the trigger on the stack, blink the Fiend Hunter. Believe it or not, this results in you exiling the first creature you target permanently, in addition to the usual Oblivion Ring effect on the next creature you target. The same trick works with other cards formatted the same way, such as Angel of Serenity, but not with more recent cards with an “until” clause, like Bishop of Binding or Fairgrounds Warden.
